Their Story

Katie and Joe met the old-fashioned way.... online! Katie stumbled upon Joe's profile and, after reading about his lumberjack skills, adventure trips, charity work, love for his dog, and his huge group of friends... she immediately thought "he's out of my league".

She was intrigued when she saw that he met her stringent height requirement, and she became mildly excited when she realized he met all of her basic demands (demanding demands!). Against her better judgment, she initiated contact.

Surprised by the contact from Katie, Joe very quickly asked her out, and their first "first date" turned into their last. Joe knew that day that she was the one, and he made plans on the spot to see her again, enticing her with good beer for their next date (he had her at "growler store").

Since they met, Katie and Joe (and Hudson and now Denver) have been inseparable!

Why Did You Choose to Elope?

We eloped because... honestly, I've always wanted to! I don't like being the center of attention, and I think weddings are silly and overdone. We wanted to do something unique and special. We are really into hiking and camping, and because Joe loves the mountains over the beach, we chose a snowy mountain elopement! We had the best of both worlds, because we still got to have a reception-style party about a month later at home. We got SO lucky with that amazing fresh snow, couldn't have timed this any better!

{Funny story - I had told Joe that if we eloped, we could get that new puppy he had been wanting. Sure enough, the DAY we get back from Breck, he brings home the cutest little white shepherd! We named him Breckenridge at first, but then changed it to Denver because it just sounded better and was easier to say.}
