You’ve got a million things to juggle - your career, your kids, school, the normal day to day. We won’t offer childcare or home cooked meals, but we can take a bit of the stress off your shoulders & help you create a dream-come-true elopement day.
how it works
A Breckenridge elopement is your dream. You don’t know much else yet, but you know that saying your vows in the Colorado mountains IS IT. So, you inquire with us!
You’re intrigued. You love everything you see here and agree to a call (or text exchange if that’s more your vibe) to go over the details and get to know each other. We’ll both laugh about how much we hate phone calls and become instant friends.
Make it official. You decide which collection is perfect for you, then you sign the contract + pay the 50% nonrefundable retainer.
Creating your day. We’ll then send ya our planning questionnaire & exclusive vendor recommendation guide. Once you complete it, we’ll lock in whichever vendors you’ve added. We’ll continue to talk about all your dreams and ideas and decide on the perfect ceremony + portrait session locations around Breck, build your timeline, and count down the days until THE day.
It’s here! We’re there celebrating with you as friends - floofing the dress, helping pin the boutonniere, laughing together about how dang happy we all are, sharing from our super secret stockpile of local brews + champagne from the cooler in our car, and simply having the best, stress-free wedding day imaginable.
I searched for weeks for the perfect photographer for us in Colorado. There are many but I fortunately stumbled upon Summit mountain weddings. I was immediately drawn to their art. I knew they were it. Every single picture told a story. Shanna and Dave photographed/videoed our engagement session and then our wedding. Their personalities are amazing. Very genuine, sweet and just real as it gets type of people. The entire process was easy breezy and they customized what we wanted to do with no problems. Working with them was a dream and they turned our big special day into one to remember for a lifetime. I’m so happy I found them. My husband and I made lifetime friends and we are forever grateful!

Are you a Wedding Planner?
Photography and videography are first + foremost our passions, and this company evolved from our love of those artforms. We offer packages with only the things you need, because a lot of couples who travel to this gorgeous area to elope want a little bit of extra help. Our base collections include photography & planning for up to 10 guests. Additional services can be added form there!
How much planning help do you provide?
Our planning services are limited to location selection, timeline creation, and outside vendor recommendations. We do not provide full service planning assistance, such as reception coordination/set-up. Most collections include up to 10-15 planning hours.
How many guests can we invite?
Due to the nature of elopements and intimate weddings requiring flexibility, and also for ease and protection of many of favorite locations, our collections have a max of 10 guests. Any guest lists over 10 can require a booked venue or private property with permissions for your ceremony, as well as an additional per person fee. Venue booking fees + permits are not included in collection pricing.
Can you Photoshop me to look…?
Short answer: No.
Long Answer: These images and film are yours, and you deserve to feel your best both on and when you’re reliving your day. We want you to love your gallery and film forever.
That being said, final images are edited + delivered to you in a style that is consistent with the work shown on the website, our portfolio, and on our social media pages. Any custom edits requested after images are delivered cost $50 per image. Examples of custom edits may include: body alterations or object removal/addition.
How do we receive our final images and video?
We upload all of your final/edited images, as well as your completed film, to an online gallery. From there, you may view the images and film + share with friends and family. We will also provide you and your new spouse a personal, private PIN to use to download images as you’d like.
When will we receive our final images?
A typical turnaround time for elopement images is anywhere between 8-10 weeks. If video is included in your collection it’s longer. Contractually, the delivery deadline is set at 5 months.
We know how important these final images and video are to you. We aim to deliver your photos in a timely manner while maintaining our standard of quality.
Is it more expensive for me to book my officiant & florist myself?
Yep, it can be. We’ve got exclusive partnerships with some of the best vendors in the area, which can mean better rates for you & more open availability than if you were to handle it all yourself.
I already have a photographer. Can I still book you?
Nope. If you already have someone you love booked to take your photos, that’s a huge step in the planning process. How exciting! Our collections are first photography collections - the planning services we provide can be thought of as a perk. We do not provide stand alone wedding or elopement planning.
Can I have a reception, too?
Sure! It’s your day! However, our services do not include reception coverage or planning assistance.
Can you send me your super secret favorite vendors list?
Our vendor list is an exclusive bonus for our booked clients, so as soon as you book with us, you’ll get our recommendations for the best artists in the county!
What if it rains?
Of course, when we plan a ceremony off the beaten path and without a formal venue's services, we can run into a hurdle: Mother Nature. We always recommend coming up with a solid backup plan. We’ll help with that! Maybe the lodge or house you book has a gorgeous fireplace or open floor plan that allows for a cozy indoor ceremony, if needed. In the past, we've moved a ceremony up by an hour to avoid the rain, too. In any case, flexibility is key to working around weather. But hey, even if we find ourselves stuck outside in a little rain, it’s said to be good luck and we have cool clear umbrellas that make for some beautiful photos.
Can I re-edit the images or video after you deliver them?
No, re-edits are not allowed. We maintain all copyright to the images and video files, and provide you with personal printing and online sharing rights. If you’re not in love with our style, we’re happy to suggest other local photographers or filmmakers who might better fit your taste.
We want to book! What’s next?
To guarantee our services for your elopement date, first fill out the booking form under the send your inquiry page or by clicking the button below. We’ll be in touch shortly [always within 24 hours] to go over our collections and booking process. Then, we’ll schedule a phone call, or – better yet – a time to grab coffee or a beer together!
To officially book, we ask for two things: 1] signed contract and 2] your initial, non-refundable payment of 50%, which is be applied to the total collection price.
Why is the retainer nonrefundable?
The retainer locks in your date, making sure you’re the only one we’re servicing on your elopement day! This also keeps us from booking anything else on your date. Beyond that, your retainer covers locking in your vendors and the time spent beginning to build your day; ie. researching locations, communication with you and vendors, and creating your general timeline.
We want to hike for our elopement location. Can we?
YES! We are always up for showing off some of the more back country spots Summit has to offer! Based on the hike length, we can help you choose the perfect amount of coverage hours to make sure we’re not rushed. We don’t, however, specialize in multi-day backpacking trips or hikes over 3 miles.
I’m not really in great shape, but I still want some epic views - can we make that happen?
You bet! We want you to feel comfortable, safe, and have fun! I’ll never ask you to do anything outside of your ability, because guess what - we’ve got lots of epic views and spots just a few steps off the nearest parking lot. We’ll want to stick close to the car anyway, since we come with a cooler stocked with water, champagne, and your favorite beers.
Do we need to use an officiant that you hire?
We offer a local officiant's service in our elopement collections, and work with who we believe to be the best of the best! That being said, sometimes you might have a friend or family member who will marry you. Or, you might even forego any officiant at all and self-solemnize your ceremony...! Colorado's so cool, isn't it?!
*please note: the decision to self-solemnize or use your own officiant will not reduce the collection price. Nor may the value be replaced with another offering.
How far in advance should we book?
Honestly? As soon as possible! Wedding photographers are one of the first vendors you book for your big day. We may book as far out as 1.5 years in advance, so let us know as soon as you have set your wedding date. Simply put, booking early guarantees your date!
Looking at a shorter timeline for your wedding? Not to worry! By their nature, elopements tend to have a shorter planning timeline. Reach out to see if your date/timeline is available. Keep in mind that week days are an AWESOME option for small elopements.
Trying to plan a wedding in Colorado while being in Europe seemed impossible. I am still incredibly grateful to have found Summit Mountain Weddings! The information on their website and social media was telling enough about how professional they are and that they take their work seriously and yet somehow made it really fun for me!
What really put me at ease from the start, was the responsiveness to each and every one of my emails. Shanna really made sure to answer all of my questions and concerns. The questionnaire that they send before starting the actual planning is really fun and straight to the point.
When our special day actually came, everything was perfect! The location was spectacular and the flowers were beautiful. Dave and Shanna immediately made us feel comfortable and we felt like we just had a few friends join our elopement. They even brought a blanket for us, as it was quite a cold day!
Our day could not have been any better, we made memories that we will cherish forever and the video and gorgeous photos that were made by Shanna and Dave that day are just gonna help us re-live that day!
