Tasha + Matt | Dreamy Breckenridge, Colorado Winter Elopement
Their Story
We met while deployed in Iraq in 2009. We were often partnered together for missions and he didn't say much to me so I was positive Matt hated me. Nothing romantic developed during our time there but we have memories of silly moments that we shared. Shortly after coming home we became close friends and that eventually lead to more. It's a love story with a slow start but I love it.
Why did you decide to elope?
When we became engaged we made two lists; one with reasons to elope and one with reasons to have a small wedding. Initially, we were set on having a small wedding but while trying to plan the details it just didn't feel right. We are private people, I hate being the center of attention and I was struggling with the thought of planning and spending so much money on just one day. I also dreamt of a winter wedding but none of our friends and family could make winter work for them. I hated that I was sacrificing what I had always wanted for something I wasn't sure I even cared about. I came home from work one day and I told Matt that I thought we should just elope. He agreed, so we did! It was the right decision!
