Colorado wedding company offers creative new traditions for wedding ceremonies

The line will offer products inspired by timeless traditions used in various cultures such as the ancient Greeks, Romans, Pagans, Native Americans and Asians.

Dina Sanchez, owner, lead designer and now pillow provider says, "my ideas came from being involved in the wedding industry through the flower shop. I noticed that cultural traditions were void in most ceremonies. I love all the traditions my Greek family exposed me to. I have spent time researching the history of wedding ceremonies, which inspired me to create this product line. We wanted to be able to create wedding rituals and traditions from the past into easy, simple ideas that will make the ceremony more meaningful for the couple, their families and friends."

The first product to be released is the handmade ring bearer pillow. The Wedding Blessings pillows are made of sustainable Dupioni silk encasing fragrant dried flowers and sacred herbs including Rosemary, Thyme, Lavender, Oregano and Roses.

The ancient Greeks and Romans used this mixture in ceremonies to symbolize happiness, love, courage, fertility and energy during challenging times. Traditionally, flowers and herbs have been used in weddings to provide visual and aromatherapy purposes, but can also ward off evil spirits and bad luck. A card enclosed with each pillow can be used at the ceremony to help describe the significance of the herbs.

The Dupioni silk fabric has eco-origins, as organic Neem seeds and compost are used as fertilizer for the Mulberry trees used to hand rear Bombyx Morii silk worms. The silk itself is hand-spun, hand-dyed and hand-woven on 100-year-old wooden looms at a rate of just 4 yards per day. No harmful chemicals are used in the manufacturing of the fabric.

The pillows create much needed work opportunities for women in recovery. Mission Wear, a small non-profit in Denver, Colorado, offers a safe place for women recovering from drug and alcohol abuse to re-enter the work place, while producing earth-friendly products.

A percentage of the profits will be donated to Rosa a new fund that will provide low cost loans for continued education or to be used as small business venture capital. Either path provides the women of Mission Wear an opportunity for a better life.
