[PHOTO SHOOT LOCATION] Aspen Trees Along Boreas Pass Road in Breckenridge, Colorado

When you're having a mountain wedding near Breckenridge and Summit County,  there are some great Aspen trees that make for brilliant backdrops for wedding photography.   Along Boreas Pass road in Breckenridge, lies the Colorado and Southern railroad route that came over Boreas Pass into the mountains from Denver.  This route brought much needed supplies to the mountain men.  

Starting in the historic downtown area of Breckenridge, head south along Main Street (Highway 9) and turn left at the last stoplight in town on Boreas Pass Road.  The right side of the intersection heading west is Broken Lance, and Boreas Pass heads to the east and to the left.  The "Steve" as locals call it, or the Town of Breckenridge's Ice Rink is on the right next to the Snowpark Rotary Museum, showcasing Old Engine No.9, an engine that has longtime roots to the line into Breckenridge. There are also some great trails that head from the ice rink parking lot, but that's for another blog.

There are numerous ways to explore this area.  A more wooded adventure is to hop on the singletrack to the left.  There is the gravel road to the right that is a six mile journey to the "summit" of Boreas Pass.  Many folks choose to walk and bicycle this road, so please drive slowly and cautiously as there are cliffs on your right as well.  

The first of the color is showing up in the trees and very quickly they change from summer's green into the fall hues.  Fall in the Rocky Mountains is an interesting time, while certain locals pray for an early snow, but all seem to appreciate an extended patch of clear weather to squeeze in those alpine adventures in the mountains.

The first part of the road doesn't seem like much.  But once you clear these tall rocks, you have amazing views of the Ten Mile Range and the Blue River Valley.

The Goose Pasture Tarn is the body of water you see. 

Red Mountain and Red Peak are part of Hoosier Ridge, a sweet backcountry trek between Boreas and Hoosier passes.  I did that hike with my friend, Kevin and it took us over 5 hours.  Plus we had a car shuttle on either end of the hike, so it made for a full day.  Ask me about it sometime.

After you round the jaw-dropping, cliff-hugging road you start to climb through the Aspen groves.  There's Baker's Tank three miles up, where the steam engine refilled before heading further up the pass and the summit of the pass three miles beyond that.

Mt. Baldy

Just beyond the Aspen trees is an open meadow with Mt.
