{ REAL MOUNTAIN WEDDING } Christina + Gabe // A Military Wedding at the Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, Colorado

An annual winter treat for Breckenridge is to host an international snow sculpting competition that challenges teams to carve square blocks into temporal works of art that last for two weeks.  And just as the blocks of snow hold fine details until they melt away, the details of weddings are forever captured in images.  The photos in today's military wedding are courtesy of Team Girtman of Studio Kiva, who are moving into some new digs in Breck as I write this.

This  mountain bride found a way to incorporate her school spirit into her wedding day!  We love when the couples personalize their event, and there are some great colleges out there that proud students and alumni are working into their event.

 

This photo shows the girls getting ready in the older side of St. Mary's Catholic church in the historic downtown area of Breckenridge.  There's a newer addition that is much larger that the ceremony was held in.  Smaller weddings can use the older, original structure if they choose.  It has its own charm, for sure, and for the right couple, it'll be the right place.  But, it's the older church that's great for pictures.

This vase arrangement held tall elegant stems called Calla Lilies.  They come in a dark, eggplant color that looks amazing too.

According to weddingdetails.com, "In many ways, the U.S. Military wedding is like any other wedding. The ceremony itself is not a military service but a religious one. What makes it a military wedding is the attire and perhaps some traditions not found in civilian weddings. There is such pomp and circumstance, pageantry and patriotism in these sophisticated rituals."  I looked this up, because I was wondering what a military wedding was all about.  There's also some great information on military weddings on this site as well.  

This lucky couple timed it perfectly and were able to use the carved blocks of snow from the snow sculpting championships as their backdrop for a photo session.  Now, those are some wedding photos that you won't get just anywhere.  They even added a new LED lighting system this year and it made the blocks into an amazing night experience as well.

The evening finished off at the Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center, which is at the base of Peak 9 of the Breckenridge Ski Resort.  This is the place you want to be when you wake up the next day after the wedding.  You'll walk out the door and literally walk a snowball's throw to the lift.  Ask us how we can plan everything you need for you winter wedding at one of the best slopeside wedding venues in the Breckenridge area.
