[ Vendor ] Studio Kiva Photography // Winter Wedding Photo Shoots at the Ice Castles In Silverthorne: Part Two

A blue Toyota Tacoma with a rack on it pulls up in front of the barn and out pops a blonde girl I know that shoots weddings in the mountains around Breckenridge and Summit County, Colorado. I  talked with Breckenridge-based photographer Katie Girtman of Studio Kiva and she told me she's wrapping up the winter wedding season with a bunch of new photographs from what she's calling "Adventure Wedding Photo Sessions."    You can see Part One of this two part series by clicking here.

Some of Katie's adventure weddings this past season included downhill / at-the-resort skiing, dog sledding, horseback riding, and at the new Ice Castles in Silverthorne.   She told me that "many couples are finding that they would like to add some fun and adventure into their wedding day as well as doing some of the traditional things. This makes their photos stand out and be different than the more traditional ways of the past. After all, they're coming out to the mountains for the beauty and what the mountains have to offer, so what a great way to have some beauty and fun all in one." 

We talked more about how important it was to try to find vendors that know the venues and areas intimately and can produce the best results.  Katie says that, "this is where a photographer can really help make this day happen. We feel a big part of our job is to figure out and plan ahead of time, to get out there and scout for the great locations for photographing on the wedding day.  This is how we ran into the Ice Castles in Silverthorne, by thinking what a great backdrop this would be for some of our winter weddings. We are always striving for finding new locations and adventures that are off-the-beaten path.  As an artist, this is our job to think outside the box." 

 

We talked about all the fun ideas we could throw together for some adventurous couples.  Whatever your mountain passion is, we are the real mountain wedding pros that will follow you around mountains, down rivers and on trails that cross our alpine majesty.  Katie finishes by saying, "wanting something a little different? Couples these days, want to show who they are as a couple with there personality and styles. We are seeing this with where their having the personalized wedding ceremonies, styles of flowers, dresses, and locations they pick. What better way to show it than photographing and documenting the day with a little adventure?  We would love to help with your style of wedding!"
