This Greece-based photographer describes this couple and their shoot in broken English, but hey, that's much better than we could write in Greek, so many thanks to Sotiris for sharing his images with our mountain wedding blog. We have dreamed of going to Iceland to explore the mountains, and this post only makes us want to go even more. This dramatic landscape is surreal and definitely belongs on this blog, as we are sure that a few of our couples have the same wanderlust for mountains around the world like we do. After a brief email exchange, we discovered that he is based in a town that's nearby to where Dina's father is from. He fled his homeland many years ago, when it was a war torn area. We can understand his wanting to escape conflict and make a better life for his family in the United States, which he did. What took me to Reykjavik in the first place was of course ... Love ! Svala and Johanh are a young couple of Icelanders who had me shoot their engagement. Johanh, who has this composed air of regal austerity, is a bit camera shy at first, but it's an Nordic thing as I can tell; Icelanders will graciously allow you into their space, will be excellent hosts and fascinating conversationalists, but when it comes to posing, or standing in front of the camera they do not appear overly excited even if they are. Then Svala, with her milky white complexion and fairy-like, girly beauty approaches, whispering something to his ear, and everything changes; I guess it's no mystery that your woman's ways of making this world a milder place for you are phenomenal. They unwind, they embrace and I am sincerely at a loss for words because their intimacy reminds me of an arcadian ballad, the simple, innocent contentement one finds in fairytales of the North. Their gestures, spotless and effortless have me follow them around as they stroll, it's sort of like a gentle hunt.
