[Hindsight 20/20] Wedding Reception / Dessert Table Tip #1: Have someone man the chocolate fountain.

A lot of brides say in retrospect, "Oh, I wish I would've known it rains every afternoon!"  Well, that's not exactly true, but it's a good bet that you might see wind, rain, and some clouds at some point during the day.  So, heed the local's advice when they say to pack a rain jacket, even if it's sunny first thing in the morning. Some of the best photographs from our wedding weren't even of us.  Kids at our event  sure loved the dessert table.  But, looking back, we might've done things different.

At the end of the day, in our opinion,  if  you plan on having a chocolate fountain, have someone supervise the children.

After all, if you're getting married in Summit County, it's a good thing to know why the classic photographs of hikers are always wearing a backpack.  It's because experienced mountain folk know that you prepare the worst, and hope for the best.

At the end of the day, your wedding will have happened, and it was nothing like you thought it would be.  But, you will have some amazing photos that you'll cherish forever, and some great stories to tell.

In this new blog, we'll be sharing tips and advice, and lessons learned along the way.  We'll share 'stories from the field' from mountain event pros that have lived to tell the story.  And you'll read advice from real mountain brides and grooms who have something that is perfectly clear, looking back.

Now, no children were injured during the event, no chocolate-strawberry sword fights, and if all we have at the end of the day is tired, chocolate-covered kids, so be it.

Enjoy the chaos, the palpable energy of all those gathered, and at some point, you'll have to take a moment to yourself to let your cheeks rest from all the smiling.
