[PHOTO SHOOT LOCATION] Dramatic Mountain Wedding Photography Near Mt. Quandary (14,265 feet) South of Breckenridge, Colorado

There are the classic shots of the couple and the wedding party walking down the middle of the street, and coming down the aisle after the ceremony, but if you're lucky enough to be near Breckenridge for your mountain wedding, then we suggest you make a plan to visit this easy-to-get-to location.  South of Breckenridge is Mt. Quandary, 14,265 feet.  This mountain was actually climbed by one of our wedding parties last summer (we're trying to track down photos for that one), but it was a pretty cloudy day, and I'm not sure if they made the summit or not.  Regardless, you don't have to climb a mountain to get amazing mountain scenery.

Local mountain man and river guide / photographer Joe Kusumoto knows of this spot and many other scenic opportunities in our area.  Joe can be seen overseeing the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center's Keystone Resort Adaptive Ski Operation, which enables physically and developmentally challenged athletes experience the mountains.  I volunteered for this organization many years ago and believe the Griffith Lodge is also a local Breckenridge wedding venue.

At the end of the road is a parking lot where you can walk around near a waterfall, or use some of the steeper flanks of Mt. Quandary as your backdrop.  Either way, you'll have lots of angles to work with.  There are also local mountain goats that are spotted here frequently, so whether you're in a dress, or with your family, you'll have an alpine experience that you don't get in downtown Breckenridge.

Certain roads and trailheads are 4WD only, but this one is accessible by most vehicles.  There is a bit of a dropoff, but you won't be driving over any boulders, just a bit of an angle on dirt roads.  There are many historic mining artifacts clinging to the steep rocky mountain hillsides, but do not approach or explore as they are a significant hazard that should be given their respect.
