{ Real Mountain Wedding } Claire + Rob at Keystone, Colorado

Weddings in the mountains are just a little bit different. And so are the couples. They want to be up high in the hills with panoramic views, the trees and folds in terrain creating pockets that are naturally romantic. In the winter, the landscape opens up to adventures involving gondolas, snow cats, snowmobiles, dogsleds, skis and snowboards.

On the scene to capture it all was Katie and Victor Girtman of Studio Kiva. These two Breckenridge locals are wedding photo specialists who will ski with you, raft with you, and follow you around the mountains to capture moments that are truly you. Q. What was your ceremony like? Why did you pick that location?

We'd always said if we got married we'd do it on top of a mountain, so that's what we did. We'd been to Breckenridge and Keystone for the previous 2 years and fell in love with the area. We picked keystone over Breckenridge because the non-skiers (parents) could access the mountain easier.

The ceremony was perfect. We used the snow cats to get to the top of the mountain, then it was an intimate ceremony with family and close friends.

Q. How was the decor for your reception put together? Who did what?

On the wedding day we had a meal at the Alpenglow Stube, which was perfect. We then had a big party when we got back to the UK for all our friends, and we continued the winter wedding theme for the party.

Q. Any funny or memorable moments from your wedding?

Rob still smiles when he hears a vehicle reversing beep, because the snow cat had a reverse beep as it would back up to get closer to me.

Q. What would you do differently, looking back?

Would have arranged for some pictures earlier in the day, we were restricted to time by the snow cats, so by the time we got to pictures the sun had gone down.

[Editor's note: By the looks of the clouds in the photo above, it was just a grey day with low light, or intermittent sun. Either way, taking photos prior to the ceremony is a good idea, as you'll want to spend time with friends and family immediately after versus leaving your guests for an extended period.]

Q. Any “hindsight 20/20″ advice you have for couples?

Go with your dreams. Some of the family didn't agree with us going to a different country to get married, but we had our day the way we wanted it.

Q. What did you do to personalize your ceremony and / or reception?

We love our picture frame guest book. It's now hanging in our dining room, and makes us smile each time we look at it. Normal guest books get put on a shelf and never re-read.
