Keystone Weddings

A classic set of images await you in today's post about Elizabeth + Scott: Keystone Wedding at the Alpenglow Stube, courtesy of Erin L. Taylor Photography. You can sense the experience created by using the gondola twice, once to get to the overlook to be used in the ceremony, and then again to travel to the reception dinner location on North Peak. The Keystone Ski Resort is made up of three mountains, and has numerous venues and locations that are available for weddings.

Planning a Destination Wedding in Colorado

As longtime locals in Summit County, we absolutely understand the attraction of the ski resorts and their on-mountain facilities. Take into consideration that some outdoor locations can be an adventure, as it likes to rain during  the afternoon hours. And, with that rain comes lightning. Talk to venue managers about back up plans for outdoor ceremonies, and I'll be the first one to tell you that it will probably rain at some point during the day. Unless it's a downpour,  I say extend cocktail hour and have your outside ceremony. Otherwise, deal with it, have an indoor ceremony and then sneak outside for some peaks with the awesome clouds that come with those storms. Contact us to learn more.

Liz (originally from Colorado) and Scott, living in Austin, TX, chose to have their wedding in the gorgeous mountains of Colorado after attending a friends wedding here. They visited several ski resorts looking for the perfect place for their ceremony and reception, but in the WINTER, when it's crazy cold and snowy and leaving them only their imagination as to what it would look like in July. They chose Keystone Ski Resort, which with the jaw dropping views of 3 mountains (Dercum Mountain, North Peak, the Outback), a base of 9,280 feet in elevation and a summit of 12,408 feet, they truly picked the right place to give their Texas guests a taste of what Colorado is all about. Guests took their first gondola to the Keytop Overlook, where the ceremony was held to a backdrop of stellar mountain slope views and then took their 2nd gondola ride to the Alpenglow Stube on top of North Peak at 11,444 feet for a feast by award winning chefs of local ingredients that are found along the Rocky Mountains and to kick off the party.

Fitting right in with the Colorado vibe, Liz and Scott did not want to have a lot of waste and chose to do an eco friendly wedding. They used no paper during their wedding planning or wedding day, the guests received their seating/favors on little packets of herbs that were to be sprinkled on their salads, the table numbers were on potted herbs that were going to be taken home and used by guests of the bride and groom. Liz chose to buy a GORGEOUS repurposed wedding gown which she plans to resell, the bridesmaids and groomsmen wore their own dresses and shoes. The flowers were local DIY bouquets made by the bride, in the bridal bouquet she memorialized her father with a photo of him and tied her parents rings to it (her mother walked her down the aisle)  The Alpenglow Stube restaurant provided dinner, dessert and wedding cake, which was all out of this world!
