5 Ways to Plan for Mountain Weather for your Destination Elopement in Breckenridge
It could rain on your wedding day. Or snow - no matter what month it is! During the summer it rains in the mountains almost every afternoon right around the 4 - 7 PM window, right when most wedding ceremonies are planned to happen. During the winter (and spring and fall)? Anything could happen!
Brides imagine puffy white clouds, or the classic Colorado bluebird skies, but when it's grey and sprinkling, or worse, raining hard and blowing wind it can be hard not to feel a little tinge of disappointment. Especially now, in the days of Covid weddings, you just want one thing to work out, amiright? But no fear, the day will go on, and so will your elopement. It's a good idea to plan ahead and hope for sunny skies. But, if it's not the weather you want, you'll have to deal with it - and that’s where we can help!
5 Ways to Weatherproof your Breckenridge Elopement (or at least feel more prepared for whatever happens).
Choose your location and vendors carefully. Do you have a backup location? Are your vendors local? During the winter, storms can blow through and close i-70 (and heck, even on a good day the traffic can be slow!), so the more local to Breckenridge your vendors are based, the safer for them as they travel to you and for you so you can rest assured they’ll be able to make it to your elopement day.
Wondering what the weather's gonna do? Look out the window. Apps only go so far. They're great for general weather for the area, but don't expect accuracy in any online forecasts. The mountains have a mind of their own.
Don't forget the umbrellas and a blanket. No, seriously. If you don’t have your own, ask your vendors! We have beautiful clear umbrellas that we bring along to every elopement - no matter what the forcast says, because you never know! If you’d like us to bring a blanket, just ask!
Dress accordingly! This is huge. If there’s snow (and your local vendors will be able to tell you what you can expect!), don’t wear sandals. Find a cute jacket to bring along - leather, jean, a fun peacoat, whatever your style it will help keep you warm AND looks cute in your photos. Leggings and thick socks are great for the winter months, too. AND, always bring along an extra pair of socks - your feet will thank you.
Have a Plan B and own it. Anything we book from October - the end of May has a solid Plan B, and sometimes even a Plan C! If you’re getting married during those months, especially, and haven’t chatted about a backup plan, do it now. You don’t want to be scrambling piecing one together last minute.
